On January 30th, 2022, the second official trailer for the series premiered, gathering over 6.7 million views on Twitter and 2.4 million views on YouTube in one day. On November 15th, 2021, the teaser trailer for the show premiered, followed by two trailers released on December 9th, 2021, and January 30th, 2022 (shown below, left and right). On February 24th, 2021, the series was moved from Showtime to the Paramount+ streaming service. Natacha McElhone was originally cast as Cortana, but in 2020, the character was recast with Jen Taylor, the voice and mo-cap actor for Cortana in all Halo games.

The casting took place between April and August 2019, with actor Pablo Schreiber cast as Master Chief, the main protagonist of the game series and TV adaptation. The show, initially set to premiere in 2015, remained in development limbo for many years as Rupert Wyatt, and later Otto Bathurst, was invited to produce. The series was originally announced in 2013 with Steven Spielberg attached as a producer. The series premiered on Paramount+ on March 24th, 2022, and will consist of nine episodes for season one, with season two already confirmed for future release. The live-action TV adaptation follows the story of genetically augmented super-soldier Master Chief during the 26th-century war between the United Nations Space Command and a military alliance of alien races known as the Covenant. Halo is a military science-fiction series based on the video game series of the same name. On July 26th, Runescape Forums member Kirtinaa submitted a thread hailing Gnome Child as the "new overlord." Meanwhile, YouTuber Flopske uploaded a video titled "Gnome Child," featuring Runescape gameplay footage in which Gnome Child discusses the existence of God before being attacked and killed (shown below). Īlso on July 25th, Redditors began posting images of quotes attributed to Gnome Child to /r/2007scape and /r/runescape (shown below). It was later posted again on /vg/ and other boards as a reaction image similar to this meme. Another player, Urotsuki, saw that the frame of animation the gnome's face was on looked funny, and quickly cropped the face, resized it so that the height was 4000 pixels, and replied to the post with it. On June 21st, 2013, a player by the name of rsmv2you (now known simply as "Rsmv") posted a screenshot of the gnome child's dialogue with the message "Gnomes are horrible parents". The origin of the infamous gnome face can be traced back to the early Oldschool Runescape General threads on 4chan's /vg/ board, also known as /rs07g/. On July 25th, Redditor Cheesydude submitted a photoshopped image of a Runescape avatar wearing a Gnome Child mask and hat to /r/2007scape, where it gained over 450 votes (90% upvoted) in the first month (shown below, right). On July 21st, 2014, Redditor helofrand posted a screenshot of a Gnome Child's portrait titled "I love gnomes" to /r/2007scape (shown below, left).
The character did not gain a significant following online until July 2014, when discussions of the character began surfacing on the /r/2007scape subreddit. On June 6th, 2008, an entry for "Gnome Child" was created on the Runescape Wiki.
